Yankee Candle's Newest Summer Scent: Loves Me, Loves Me Not™

“Oh, dear little daisy,
      come whisper me softly,
And tell me a secret
      I’m longing to know.
His name will lie hid
      in your golden heart ever;
Oh, say does he love me,
      and whisper it low.”
—Burton Egbert Stevenson

Just one look at the happy, hopeful daisy on Yankee Candle's new Loves Me, Loves Me Not™ brings me back to sweet summer days, plucking petals and wondering if the universe could really share its secrets through a randomly selected wild flower.

And, the fragrance is as happy and carefree as the name and label imply. It's like a fresh field daisy with pretty white petals just waiting to be pulled! Ever hopeful, ever joyful, ever mysterious, Loves Me, Loves Me Not™ is a signature summer scent!

Loves Me, Loves Me Not™ is a new candle fragrance by The Yankee Candle Company. Find this scent and more at Yankee Candle retail stores, select gift and home stores, and yankeecandle.com.

Stylish Scented Scentlight™

Although little compares with the ambient glow of candles, there are times when a lit candle is not convenient, appropriate, or even allowed . For those occasions, a flameless fragrancer is the great problem solver and Yankee Candle's latest even casts a warm glow. I Need A Little Yankee Candle Christmas!

One of my favorite times to think about the holiday season is just as the weather is starting to change. The days are just a bit shorter, the nights are just a bit cooler, and my mind starts to wander thinking about the days and weeks ahead. Will I have a theme to my decor or will my daughter's hand-made creations be the theme? In addition to our traditional holiday yummies, what new recipes can I try? Of course, on December 24th I'll be burning my personal favorite scent Christmas Eve®, but will I find a new scent to love and add to my family celebration this season?
Before my schedule gets crazy and the hurried pace of life accelerates, I can truly savor the anticipation of this magical time of year and take inspiration from favorite magazines, treasured memories, and this new video from Yankee Candle's fragrance expert Doreen Smith. Hmmm, Cherries on Snow™ sounds like it just might become this year's holiday scent-erpiece!

New from Yankee Candle: Nature's Paintbrush™ Captures the Perfect Autumn Day!

Driving to work this morning the valley was shrouded in fog as happens so often when the season is in transition with cool nights and warm days. But peeking through the fog in sharp contrast to the whitish gray mist, I saw a little burnt orange glow. The leaves are just beginning to change here in Western Massachusetts. Although I'm not fond of saying goodbye to the hot summer sun, there is something about the change to Autumn that is invigorating. The air is crisp, clear, and cool and the shock of colors is electrifying. From one day to the next the landscape changes, first in subtle tones quietly progressing to the bold rich reds, oranges, and golden yellows when the colors are at their peak. It is this very moment in time that was the inspiration for our new fragrance Nature's Paintbrush™. The scent mimics a perfect autumn day captured in radiant, aromatic strokes of brisk air, spicy woods and warm musk. With this candle you can capture and relive the natural beauty of fall any day of the year.

Find Nature's Paintbrush™ and other favorite fall fragrances in our Yankee Candle retail stores, on our website, and in gift and home stores nationwide!

How Do I Smell My Yankee Candle? Let Me Count The Ways!

As an 18-year veteran of Yankee Candle many people ask me how to smell a candle to get the best idea of the scent. Although there are a variety of tips and techniques, the personal nature of our own sense of smell means that there is no right way or wrong way - just your way and my way!

More often than not, when choosing a candle to buy you’re smelling it unlit in the store. What’s the best way to smell a cold candle? Some say you should smell the inside of a domed Yankee Candle lid in order to get the best idea of how it will smell while burning. While that method has a proven track record, our candlemakers have worked tirelessly on making sure that the candle wax itself offers a strong waft of fragrance, even cold. And, members of our fragrance committee often open the candle slightly to take in the bloom of scent from both the lid and the wax in order to fully appreciate the aroma. We’ve even known some candle connoisseurs to put a Tart® in one scent into a jar lid of another to get an idea of how they’d smell if combined!

It really is all a matter of preference and the number of different techniques makes me think that (to paraphrase a well-known song) there must be fifty ways to smell your candle:

You can smell from the lid, Syd

Sniff from the jar, Star

There's no right way, Kay

Just set your scent free

Light up the wax, Max

Let the scent fill your space, Grace

Just follow your nose, Rose

And set your scent free!

You can set your scent free in our Yankee Candle retail stores, on our website, and in gift and home stores nationwide!

Secret Sale on Yankee Candle's Conceal®!

Did you know that from 100 feet away mosquitoes can smell your scent, especially the carbon dioxide you exhale? If you talk or even breathe, there’s no hiding from these pesky bugs! Conceal® by Yankee Candle® is fabulous because it blocks your scent leaving you free to have fun, eat great summer food, and be bite free. Here's how it works: mosquitoes are blocked by the inhibitor plume produced by the candle. If you can smell the Garden Fresh Scent produced by the lit candle, you are in the inhibitor plume and hidden from any mosquitoes looking for a tasty meal!

Have you tried Conceal® our mosquito repellent candle? It really helps you enjoy being outside in the summer! And a fantastic Conceal® promotion was announced by Tory Johnson during Secret Sales on Eyewitness News First at Four PM. Check it out here (details highlighted on 2:11 of video). The promotion is available through 7/31/11 only at all Yankee Candle Company retail stores in the US and on our website when you use the promo code provided in the video.

Can Your Favorite Yankee Candle Change Your Appearance?

Driving to work yesterday, I heard the DJ ask the morning's trivia question: According to new research, wearing what can make a Woman appear 10 pounds lighter to Men? The typical responses like "something black" came through rather quickly but the true answer remained elusive until the DJ hinted that it was nothing that could be seen. The invisible slimming devise, it seems, is the right scent! Arriving at work, I searched the Internet for the source of this question and found that according to research conducted at the Smell & Taste Treatment & Research Foundation women who wear spicy floral fragrances appear 5-12 pounds thinner to men. What was really intriguing to me is that on average the men rated the woman wearing the scent as 4-5 pounds under her actual weight, but the men who found the scent pleasing dropped her weight to 12 pounds less! To me it shows that being around a scent you like - or even love! - makes a world of difference!

In a similar study by the same foundation, certain citrus scents were found to leave the impression that the person wearing the aroma was up to 6 years younger! I think I've found another reason to surround myself with my new favorite fragrance, Pink Sands™: a "
mix of bright citrus, sweet florals and spicy vanilla".

Enhance your lifestyle by surrounding yourself with favorite scents from The Yankee Candle Company, available at all Yankee Candle Company retail stores, on our website, and at gift and home stores nationwide.

New Limited Edition Beach Collection by Yankee Candle

The sun, the sand, cute flip-flops, salt water taffy, and searching each and every gift shop for the perfect t-shirt to remember your day at the shore … bring back memories? As a little girl I remember visiting my aunt and uncle’s motel in Beach Haven NJ, collecting sea shells, and searching for a souvenir my parents would agree to buy for me. Once we moved to Maine, the frigid waters of the North Atlantic didn’t deter us as my sisters and I vowed that the waves were fun once your legs went numb! And, of course, some of my favorite days were spent at Rocky Point Amusement Park on the Rhode Island Coast where the salt air mixed with the heady scent of clam cakes and chowder coming from the Shore Dinner Hall. While reminiscing with friends recently, it seems that everyone has vivid memories like these. Whether they visited the endless summers of Florida, the wild beauty of the Pacific coast, or a charming lake shore town like Lake George, there’s something about being by the water that makes for a carefree, casual, and fun day to remember. These were the memories that inspired four new Limited Edition beach scents by Yankee Candle: Beach Sun™, Beach Blue™, Beach Escape™, and Beach Garden™. Light one of these candles, close your eyes, and indulge in a day at the shore you won’t soon forget!

The Limited Edition Yankee Candle Beach Collection is available at all Yankee Candle Company retail stores, on our website, and at gift and home stores nationwide.

Yankee Candle Helps Make A House Smell Like a Home

I remember when I was house-hunting I would scour the weekend paper looking for Open Houses in neighborhoods I liked. Walking into someone else's house is always a bit strange and sometimes it can be difficult to imagine living there, but when the house smells like a home it can make all the difference in the world. The houses I really liked inevitably had a warm and comforting scent. Sometimes it was a baking aroma like someone just pulled a batch of cookies from the oven. Other times it was just a fresh, clean scent that made me feel like the house was well-maintained. Though the actual fragrance differed from home to home, I always found the source to be the same: a lit Yankee Candle® jar or Yankee Candle® Electric Air Freshener!

If you look at any "Top 10" list of tips for a successful real estate open house, you'll see that my experience isn't just happenstance. In fact when staging your house for a showing, giving it an appealing scent goes a long way in making it feel more like a home. This added element triggers happy thoughts and memories, ensuring that all senses are engaged in a warm and inviting way.

Finding Treasure at Rainbow's End™

What is it about a rainbow that is so universally appealing? Is it the promise that the sun will shine again when the rain has passed or is it the elusive pot of gold at the end that makes this band of color so enchanting? Rainbows provide an unpredictable moment of magic that nearly always makes people stop in their tracks in awe and wonder. They make people happy! In fact, I smile whenever I see my daughter's artwork because inevitably there's a half-sun smiling in the corner of the page, a fluffy cloud floating in the sky-blue air, and a beautifully arched rainbow (using all 64 crayons) spanning the scene from one edge to the other.

Recently Yankee Candle's ardent facebook fans lobbied for the return of our own tribute to nature's mysterious beauty, Rainbow's End™. First introduced nearly a decade ago in the fall of 2001, Rainbow's End™ was described in its inaugural catalog as "a calming fragrance that echoes the fresh, clean country air after a storm". In a photo taken by facebook fan Drew Guy, the crowd favorite shows that "its pure sky blue color is just as refreshing as its image-evoking scent".

Whether you are seeking calm after the storm of your busy day or looking for the treasures of life's riches at the end of the rainbow, the fresh scent of Rainbow's End™ will provide you with moments of pure enchantment. And, like a real rainbow, it is available for a limited time!

Rainbow's End is a limited edition Rare Treasure candle that is now available in large jars and Tarts® wax potpourri at all Yankee Candle Company retail stores, and on our website.

Break Away from Winter With Spring Days™ by Yankee Candle

If ever there was a winter that made me yearn for spring, this is certainly the one. Some days I keep upbeat by remembering that it's been a tough few months all over the country. Whether it's snow or sleet or ice, we all seem to be going through it together! To while away these last remaining days of winter, my family starts planning for spring. We think of springtime celebrations like Easter and Mother's Day. And we think a lot about flowers. What will we plant in the garden? We even think about just cleaning up the yard after the snow melts - how good the earth will smell once the sun warms it up! To help us get in the mood, we light some of our favorite spring-y scents. This week we're lighting fresh clean Storm Watch® and the new limited edition Spring Days. There is nothing like the scent of spring to refresh the spirit and rejuvenate the soul!

Storm Watch® and Spring Days™ are now available at all Yankee Candle Company retail stores, and on our website.

Daydreaming with New Orange Dreamsicle by Yankee Candle

What a day for a daydream! Having dug our way out of the 20" of snow that blew in yesterday, I am definitely dreaming of sunnier and warmer days. We New Englanders are made of a hearty stock, but days like yesterday make me truly appreciate the dog days of summer. And nothing says summer quite like a cool frosty treat. Do you remember hearing the music of the ice cream truck when you were growing up? The sound was faint at first and you didn't know whether it was on the street behind yours or if it was just around the corner. With adrenalin pumping, you ran inside to beg for money to buy a treat. Then you stood in line with the other neighborhood kids to see just what tasty treat the money in your fist would buy. Maybe, just maybe, you had enough to buy an Orange Dreamsicle: the perfect combination of effervescent orange and rich creamy vanilla. The fragrant glow of new Orange Dreamsicle by Yankee Candle whisks me away from the frozen landscape outside my window and I can wile away the rest of winter dreaming of warm summer days. Wait, I think I just heard the ice cream truck!

Find Orange Dreamsicle and up to 8 other new Yankee Candle fragrances at all Yankee Candle Company retail stores, on our website, and at gift and home stores nationwide.

Yankee Candle's Wishes for a Scent-sational Season!

‘Twas two weeks before Christmas
When throughout my abode,
I was hustling and bustling
In full gift-giving mode.

With my list at the ready
I planned my attack
To bring fragrance to all,
A scent in each sack.

My eyes how they twinkled
As my nose took a whiff;
My senses went on holiday
With each yummy sniff.
For the teacher, I chose
A Gingerbread candle;

For my husband, of course
A Mistletoe man-dle.

For each of my sisters
I thought out of the box
Stuffing Car Jars® and wick snips
Into their socks.

My best friend loves Tarts®;
Her fave: Sparkling Snow™
I gave her a dozen
Tied up with a bow.

The last gift I wrapped,
Make no mistake
Was "From Me To Me":
My Christmas Cupcake!

So from my blog to your home,
I hope my wishes are clear

For a scent-sational holiday
And a fragrant New Year!

A Trip Down Memory Lane with Yankee Candle

While some may complain that store holiday décor goes up earlier each year, I must admit that I get excited when I see that first Christmas ad on TV. It automatically takes me back to my childhood when many of those commercials quickly became items on my Santa wish list. Would that be the year I found The Sunshine Family or Baby Tender Love under the tree? Or would I finally get the Easy Bake Oven all of my friends already had? Even when they weren’t toy commercials, holiday ads would catch my attention because of their whimsy and magic. Who would forget the Norelco snowman or Anheuser-Busch Clydesdales? Enter my new favorite holiday accessory from Yankee Candle: The Night Before Christmas TV Hanging Tarts® Warmer. With two enchanting little mice sitting captivated by the holiday show on television, there is something so special about this piece. It’s more than a candle accessory – it’s a glowing memory of yesteryear that’s sure to inspire new traditions!

My New Home Sweet Home

We bought a new house yesterday! Well, it's not "new" new, it's just new to us. We had the closing in the morning so when I picked up my daughter at school in the afternoon I asked her if she wanted to see our new house. She squealed and jumped up and down with excitement. So the three of us (my husband, daughter, and me) celebrated last night. We picked up a pizza and sat on the floor of our new and empty family room. As we ate, we burned a Home Sweet Home® Yankee Candle jar and let the scent fill the empty spaces with coziness and the promise of warm memories yet to come!

The perennial favorite, and Yankee Candle classic, Home Sweet Home® is on sale now in all Yankee Candle Company retail stores and online.

Yankee Candle Scents & Nonsense

Not too long ago my family and I visited the home of Ben & Jerry's ice cream in Vermont. In their typical tongue-in-cheek fashion, the Ben & Jerry's marketers have decided to acknowledge the flavors that did not quite make the grade by displaying them on tombstones in a faux flavor graveyard. This got me to thinking about the Yankee Candle hits and misses over the years. What products and fragrances had real glow and which were no more than a pool of melted wax? In no one’s opinion but my own, here are the top 3 hits and misses in my Yankee Candle history:

Wax On

MacIntosh & Sage & Citrus – When introduced in 1998, MacIntosh and Sage & Citrus were enormously popular right from the first sniff. We’d had other scents that struck chords with our fans over the years, but these two were so uniquely wonderful that they led the way for other signature scents like Midsummer’s Night®, Clean Cotton®, and Mistletoe™.

Car Jars® - It’s been a decade since the launch of our candle-shaped auto fragrancers and boy has the Yankee Candle fan’s life changed since. This was our first non-candle product and since then fragrance fanatics the world over have been able to enjoy Yankee Candle scents in room sprays, potpourri, reeds, and even lip balm and anti-bac soap!

Fan Feedback – If there is one thing that changes the dynamic of everything we do, it’s hearing from and listening to all of the people who use our products. Whether we’re talking to customers face-to-face in our stores, reading what they write on facebook, or analyzing sales, our fans speak to us loud and clear!

Wax Off

Rhubarb Plum & Gooseberry Jam – These are two recent examples of when some scents can be a little too true-to-life!

Fragrant Shades of White – This out-of-the-box concept was developed on the notion that people may buy a candle if only its color didn’t clash with home décor. We poured all our best-selling fragrances in colorless wax so that if you wanted MacIntosh but detest the color red you could still enjoy the scent. Interest in these Fragrant Shades quickly faded away!

Discontinuing Storm Watch® & Fireside™ – And, I could add such other fan favorites as Eucalyptus and Patchouli. You all spoke loud and clear when these scents went away and we certainly learned an important lesson. We welcomed these favorites back into the line and you’ve welcomed them back into your homes!

New From Yankee Candle: Fragranced Figurines

I have a new way to add round-the-clock fragrance to my home and boy is it cute! No, I haven't given up on candles - not by a long shot. But there are times that I want to add scent without lighting a candle. Of course I use electric fragrancers but in my old home I don't always have a convenient outlet. That's why I was delighted to find these new fragrance diffusers from Yankee Candle®. They're pleasant to look at and pleasantly scented, adding seasonal charm wherever they are. The key is in the unglazed porcelain stem and leaf at the top of the pumpkin and apple. When you fill the vessel with MacIntosh or Spiced Pumpkin fragrance, the oil wicks up the porcelain and wafts through the room.
My home feels so warm and inviting even when the house has been empty because these darling little figurines are working overtime!
